Ivana Pi | CD cover

Ivana Picek or simply Pi, a young singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is recently often named the most interesting Croatian musician of the younger generation, after releasing her new album Časna lubanjska, which received nothing but critical acclaim. The album is full of references and hidden language, so designing the cover took a lot of “detective” work. To start with, song titles are coded symbols, inviting the listener to enter Pi’s mystic ritual. Dark forests, nuns and convents, caskets, demons, kings and little girls, light and shadows mixed with ethereal layers of voice and instruments come together inside the crystal head of the central character. The hermetic figure, mysterious as the music, may be regarded as feminine or ominous, while suggesting that only the curious eye (or ear) will be rewarded and may find out which constellation or deity is represented or worshiped.
